Tips and tricks for Class 10 and 12 pre-board exams

Many students often ignore the significance of pre-board exams and tend to forget that it serves as a precursor for them to experience the intricacies of the board-level exam setup. It also helps students review their weak areas, analyse their study methods and work on strategies. Such shortcomings may cover various aspects including individual preparation, writing speed and basic approach strategy.
The result helps you decide the kind of performance you will be giving in the final board exam. This helps students assess their ongoing performance and to make desired changes in their respective exam approach accordingly.
What to expect from pre-boards:
Instead of treating the pre-boards as another reason to pressurise yourself and accentuate stress levels, the idea behind its preparation should be to plan effectively.
It is also reported that some students tend to take these exams casually as the pre-board exams cause no direct effect on the final results.
This type of approach must be avoided by students as although it doesn’t affect board results directly, such methodology could restrict students from deriving their practical benefits. These exams will eventually help you build your confidence to attempt the final board examination paper. The aftermath of adopting such a casual attitude will lead students to face difficulty in preparing for the finals.
How to plan:
You can talk to teachers, peers and your seniors about what study plan they follow in the last days after full syllabus completion. It is critical for students to maintain their ongoing preparations, while simultaneously making necessary alterations in their approach strategy according to their respective pre-board results.
Exam strategy:
Students should realistically take up each subject and go through all the topics and chapters in it. Getting your hands on the NCERT textbooks will guide you towards clearing your concepts and sharpening your skills on a topic as chances of questions appearing beyond the prescribed text book are very little.
The strategy you make should be a perfect blend of learning and revising the syllabus. Do not skip studying diagrams, tables or graphs in the textbook.
Practising v/s studying:
Solving the past ten year question papers is a very good idea to familiarise yourself with the exam patterns and popular questions because having studied well and being exam ready are two different things.
Practising a ready question bank and mock tests will further help you prepare the right questions beforehand.
Small measures which will help a lot:
Students should also not ignore important formulae, notes and dates which are important for almost all subjects. The smart thing to do is to write down these points, formulae, theorems, and definitions on flash cards that you can carry along in your pocket or wallet for a quick revision at the last minute. (Do not, however, under any circumstances, carry these inside the examination hall). Before initiating any practice, mastering the subject is more important.
During the exam, it is advisable to write long, descriptive answers in points and give pictorial or graphical illustrations wherever possible. This enhances visibility.
What pre-boards aim to do:
Pre-boards are preliminary tests which help you understand your weak areas. Working on your weaknesses also builds your confidence level. You should chalk out a proper time-table that encompasses everything – from your sleep schedule to your study pattern – and stick to it.
Remember:
Believe in yourself; there is still time to improve your performance and score better marks. Do not panic; push yourself harder and make sure that you are poised to face the final board examination. Given below are a few methods that can be incorporated in your study schedule to tackle those difficult areas prior to your board exams.
Create a proper timeline:
Now, as you know your weak areas, your agenda should be to give extra time to tackle those difficult lessons and transform them to strong ones. A timetable helps you to prioritise and take care of the important and weaker sections first.
It helps you procrastinate less and gives you the freedom to plan your schedule the way you want. While you have allotted additional time to master those tricky subjects, do not ignore the other lessons.
Preparing your notes will go a long way:
Revising the whole syllabus from scratch may seem impossible in the limited time available. Therefore, prepare short notes and list out the main points or draw diagrams that can help you recall all the answers quickly.
The act of writing notes or drawing flow charts consolidates your memory and is more effective than only reading or mugging up your lessons. In this way, you will be able to grasp the points better and remember everything you need to know during the exam.
One last thing to remember that pre- board exams in top schools are very important especially if they follow their board exams pattern.

11-thoughtful-gifts-to-impress-her-on-the-first-date

First dates are always tricky. You are always in two minds what to do and what not to. You want to look both interesting and interested but definitely not needy. Giving her a small gift can be a nice way to convey her just that apart from letting her know how thoughtful and chivalrous you are. But while gifting her something sweet speaks to be a nice gesture it is also quite difficult to put your finger on what exactly can you gift her on the very first date.
1.A single long-stemmed rose
But make sure it is a formal date otherwise you will come on way too strong with it since it’s a universal symbol of love.

2.Or better find out what are her favourite flowers and gift her a bunch of those. Maybe orchids or lilies?

3.If you can’t find that out from her FB account, greet her with the flowers of her favourite colour; perhaps yellow sunflowers? You can always order these flowers online from an online florist like Florist Xpress.

3.Or if you are still confused take along with you a small box of chocolates

Though cliched, these are time tested and have become synonymous to a gentlemanly gesture.

4.If you saw she has pics with her teddy bears, make a venture into a small stuffed toy and see her giggle with delight.

But mind you, don’t assume all the girls like stuffed toys.

5.Go for something more unconventional and gift her a simple silk scarf if you think she is more sophisticated.

6.Or a small trinket if she likes jewellery.

But keep in mind to not get her anything too expensive or else you will seem too desperate and/or showy.

7.Even in jewellery, see if she likes more traditional or the funky kind of stuff and gift accordingly.

8.If you know her to have a certain hobby, gift her something to help her with that. Like for example if she paints, try a box of charcoal or a pot of paint.

9.If she likes to read, you can never go wrong with a nice book. She’ll only be too happy to receive an another Bible.

10.Rake your brain for some clues from the times you’ve had a conversation with her and gift accordingly. Like if she told you she got a new vehicle gift a nice key chain for it.

It will only show how attentive you were when she was talking about herself.

11.Or be more adventurous and gift her something totally different like a bouquet of candies or a small plant if she loves nature or anything that you think she may like.

In the end it all comes down to how much you know her, what have you two shared and how much you ‘listened’. The key is to be creative and think out of the box. You need to let her know you are a nice and thoughtful guy but without being too overpowering or looking too desperate.

Enjoy A Dreamy Delightful Valentine’s Day In Kolkata

Spread in a north–south direction along the east bank of the Hooghly River, Kolkata is a riverine beauty that makes it a perfect city to spend Valentine’s Day. You don’t have to drive, fly or travel to some faraway place to have a beautiful Valentine’s Day with the love of your life. It’s possible to have a memorable one in the city of joy itself.

I planned this schedule for Valentine’s day this year & had a marvellous time with my fiancé.

Here’s what I did-

1)     Needless to say, this is one day of the year at least, when getting flowers & gifts for your girl is a must. I wanted the gift to be really special & at the same time I hate shopping. But I had no trouble with that. I just ordered a nice romantic combo of flower & chocolate bouquet from Florist Xpress. This online flower & gift delivery site, delivered the gifts to me in the morning at the time I choose. I surprised my fiancé with it at the breakfast table at Flurys.

2)     As we sat in the legendary tearoom of Flurys, I gave her the gifts. She was surprised & open-mouthed on getting them. Savouring the hot cup of tea along with English breakfast-bread & bacons, we watched the morning pass by through the large glass windows. It was a perfect start for the romantic day in Kolkata.

3)     Then we went to the Millenium Park & took a leisure stroll with hand in hand away from the din & bustle of the chaotic city and yes, there are such places in Kolkata.

4)     Then we hoped on the heritage transport of the city- the tram. Its lazy pace was an enchanting way to relish the beauty of this once capital of India.

5)     Then the biggest part of the day- the sunset. It has to be romantic on this one day of the year. I choose what is inarguably the most romantic place in the city-the Princep Ghat. Here, the Hoogly river back is exceptionally beautified by the stunning monument made in Gothic-Greek architecture style. If the river, the golden sunset & the famous Palladian porch doesn’t make your woman all lovey-dovey, then nothing will.

6)     Then comes what is the most boring part for me & I believe for most guys-Shopping. But I bore with it as it is one of the favourite things for my fiancé. We went to the historic New Market.

7)     But of course I had backup plan to pull her out of there-romantic movie at 10 o’clock & we went to the paradise of movie-buffs- Nandan. Then I dropped her off at residence- it was past midnight, but this one day of the year it’s ok.

Well this is what I did. But of course, you can have many other ways to make this a day worth reminiscing - like driving to Raichak, taking a walk in Victoria Memorial, having the breakfast at ITC Sonar Bangla…the list can go on. I bet before you read this you didn’t think that there are so many options to make a spectacular valentine’s day in good old Kolkata.

CBSE School Admission In Howrah

As kids grow up, it is only natural for parents to start pondering about the education their kids should have. Like most countries of the world in India, a good education is the cornerstone to any successful career- no matter in which line it is in. Hence every parent in this country endeavour to give their children the best possible education that they can afford. But all parents have come to terms with the fact that choosing the right education system for your children is definitely not an easy task. Especially with all the different boards of education- each one providing different standards of teaching.

Well here’s a few tips to adopt what is best for the children of the dazed & confused parents. Remember that just like most things in life, quality of education can only be judged by the end result. So to put it in the words of Albert Einstein, “Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.” In order to interpret this, think of what happens once school is over? Obviously the next step is that children go off for higher education i.e. college. So what will help them achieve the next step in a successful & smooth manner? In many ways, probably the best education board in India for that purpose at reasonable cost would be CBSE.

CBSE or the Central Board of Secondary Education is the de facto central board of education in India for school children. Reconstituted on 1st July, 1962, it’s centered at New Delhi. It’s an autonomous organization under the central government. It has several regional offices with decentralised decision-making authority for operational efficiency. CBSE conducts the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) every year for students who complete their twelfth grade, and this examination is the very basis on which students can pursue their higher education, once out of school. There’re several other advantages as well to educate kids in this board. Here’s a few more reasons-

  • Additional subject matters are covered along with the national curriculum.
  • As per syllabus, it conducts 2 exams- AISSE for Xth standard & AISSCE for XIIth.
  •  As a lot of private schools are for opting for this board, one can easily find a school in this board for his/her child.
  • The syllabus is extremely organised, easy to learn, predictable & up to date, unlike most other educational boards in this country.
  • This board is recognized by the NCERT.
  •  A certificate from this board is practically recognised in all higher educational institutes throughout the country.
  • Practical & application based learning pattern is followed with the focus mainly on experience & experimentation
  • CBSE also conducts the JEE exams
  •  Wherever competitive exams, like the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-mains) or the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) are held in India, they are all based on the CBSE syllabus.
  •  Even in international universities, CBSE education is well recognised.

So, now that, the distress of selecting a board is over, next comes the headache of choosing a school. If you’re living anywhere in or near Howrah, you might find a lot of excellent educational institutes, which have sprung up throughout the city in the last few years. But among the various schools in eastern India, Sudhir Memorial Institute Liluah, in Howrah, is probably the Best CBSE School in Howrah. In terms of infrastructure, vision, dedicated teachers, instructional techniques, approaches to cater to the needs of individual children, Sudhir Memorial Institute Liluah records among the best schools in India. When it comes to education, values, environment along with extra curriculum activities, Sudhir Memorial Institute Liluah is top notch & ideal for students from KG to Class XII.

One of the premier co-educational day school in Liluah, Howrah, India, it is a sister institute of Sudhir Memorial Institute Madhyamgram. It is a Senior-Secondary school & has over 3,000 students. Founded as a Public School in 2011 in Liluah, Howrah, it is a private institution run by the S.N.R. Memorial School. It was started by a group of distinguished educationist & philosophers like Mr. Sudhakar Nath Tiwari and Mr. Mahesh Kumar Singh. In the words of the founders, this educational institute was founded “with the dream of imparting complete holistic education.” It is definitely a school to consider for parents, who envisions a bright future for their children. So for further information just check it out at http://sudhirmemorialinstituteliluah.com/.
The process of admission, for the academic session 2017-18 from Nursery to Class VIII, in Sudhir Memorial Institute Liluah has started. The online Application Enquiry Form is available at http://sudhirmemorialinstituteliluah.com/admission-enquiry/. Sudhir Memorial Institute Liluah continues to maintain its reputation as the best school in Howrah.

It’s an autonomous institute, however the admission criteria remains as per CBSE regulation. Admission forms along with Prospectus are available from the school office (address given below) on any working day between 9am to 3 pm. These forms have to be filled up & submitted on the day of selection, which will be carried out through competitive process.
